Nourished Heart Yoga

Ritual Space

Altars Altars Altars everywhere.

A simple altar and ritual space can become a part of your daily yoga spiritual practice (sadhana) by just setting aside a little time each day and setting a clear intention. This guides us to be able to share our true authenticity and brave heart. Where we can feel courageous to hold space for friends, families, beloveds and surrender to the realization of altars everywhere.

Becoming mindful of your own transformative energy and universal vibration inside you around you is tending to your reality on our planet. Tending to your inner fire, reflecting in your inner space the stirrings of vibration within your heart as we are all energy vibrating at different frequencies, ranging from low to high. Since we live in a manifestation reality, we can naturally attract our attention to thoughts, desires and patterns that are good for you. But, we need to listen to our inner teacher, our breath guiding us to presence to become clear on what we want to see in our lives. Having and altar space can help to bring that awareness to fruition.

Lord Ganesha Remover of obstacles " Oh god with curved trunk, large body whose aura is like the light of the sun, Please make my entire work obstacle free"
  Ganesha/Ganapati

An altar can be just a small space in your home or garden where you have small treasures, perhaps something written, a picture or any offering from your heart that you feel tender towards, cultivating a dedication and sacredness to begin where we are. One of my favourite deities is the elephant headed Hindu god, most well known, much revered and worshiped Ganapati, Lord Ganesha. Remover of obstacles, liberator and thought to bring good luck. He is the patron of arts and sciences. He is the deva of intellect and wisdom. Ganesh invocation mantras are very transformative personally to me and a puja (worship ritual, offering) almost always begins with an invocation to Lord Ganesha.  As we all know altars are in nature everywhere, naturally created or formed and sacred sites where our ancestors shaped the environment.

A ritual space and yoga is so “Maha” (great in Sanskrit) important to healing ourselves, oftentimes on some deep subconscious level we have unhealed aspects, psychological imprints (samskaras) that just attract unwanted energy. By becoming consciously more self aware of samskaras and honour dissolution we can shift out of dissonance, let go of the patterns that don’t serve . By evoking a divinity. Devi or deva, identifying and absorbing them into your whole self. This can become a nourishing strength to keep perseverance, so you can begin to dive into your shadow work supported and become an illumine of light to yourself.

Connecting to your inner temple and diving into your innermost heart space, love will evolve into a full spectrum of what is needed to become the highest vibrational version of yourself to be able to live your life bathing in the light of love. Claiming your altar space with crystals, gemstones, or a diety that has significance to your faith. Candles, a flower, whispering a prayer. Anything can be an offering leaving a magical awareness of true sacredness. Cleansing your space with sweet Incense or essential oils to purify or sooth. Just simply slowly moving in a circle around a space can create the willingness to tend to what is important right now. In finding guidance towards our most authentic self, attending to our vital energy and supporting every cell of our body. This is our empowerment where our potential is limitless.

Mahatma Gandhi said ” A man is but a product of his thoughts. what he thinks, he becomes” I love Marianne Williamson’s quote “It is not your job to seek for love. It is your job to seek within yourself all the barriers against its coming”  And, I think it was Nelson Mandala who said ” We are afraid of our full potentiality”  The most important thing to remember is “We are a miracle and it is a miracle to be here together”  said by me.
